Many newbies are surprised by finding this two terms about SEO and they think what can be the differences. So in this article, I am going to tell you the difference.
To determined the difference between On-Page and Off-Page SEO first you need to know what is On-Page SEO and what is Off-Page SEO.
What is On-Page SEO?
On Page SEO is the SEO strategies that is in different parts of your web page which crawled by search engines. So, On page SEO is what you do on your own website or blog for the purpose of getting the good amount of search traffic. You can control this type of SEO on your own site or page like creating quality content, internal linking, use of heading tag etc.
The main components of On-Page SEO tactics are given below:
- Title tag which shows the title of the page and also shows on search engines as clickable link
- Meta description tag which shows the brief summary about the page
- Heading tag
- Images of the page and ALT tag for images
- URL structure and domain name
- Content quality on your site
- external and internal links on your web page
- And some more….
What is Off-Page SEO?
Off-Page SEO is the strategies of SEO which is focused on increasing the domain authority by linking your site to other websites and there are nothing to do on your web page. This type of SEO completely depends on other websites like your site linkings on other sites, social signal etc.
Some of the important components of Off-Page SEO are listed below:
- Amount of backlinks for your website or blog
- Social shares or social signals
- Location from where your site visitors came
- Search history
- Referring websites
- And some more….
So, what is the difference between On-Page SEO and Off-Page SEO
From the above content that I have discussed on On-Page and Off-Page SEO, you can determine the main difference between On-Page and Off-Page SEO.
Basically, On-Page SEO is completely laid within your web page or your own website and you can control it through your website or web page. But in the case of Off-Page SEO, you can’t do anything on your site that controls Off-page SEO. Off-Page SEO is determined from other websites like getting links from other sites to your site, social shares etc. There are nothing to do with Off-Page SEO on your site.
So the main difference between On-Page and Off-Page SEO is that On-Page SEO is laid on your own website whereas Off-Page SEO depends on other websites and nothing to do on your site for off-Page SEO. this is the reason that these are named as On-Page (laid on your web page or your site) and Off-page(not laid on your web page or your site).
Also, Off-Page SEO is a long-term process that can continue link building on other sites and can be improved further more in future. But On-Page SEO is not long-term process like Off-Page SEO.
Generally, Off-Page SEO has an impact on domain authority, but On-Page SEO does not effect so much like Off-Page on domain authority. So simply we can say that Off-Page SEO has more impact in domain level than On-Page SEO.
At the end, I want to say that I also want to listen from you if you have understood the difference of Off-page and On-Page SEO and what you think about these two types of SEO.
